Speaker | Adviser | Researcher

I am an award-winning leader, an inernationally renowned expert in uncrewed/autonomous systems, human factors and safety, and strategic advisor passionate about improving the way people and technology work together. Specifically, I am interested in the developments of uncrewed and autonomous systems and AI - across air, land and sea - in modern conflicts. My work in the area of drone warfare and lessons learnt from the war in Ukraine and their implications for military capability development, defence innovation and future of warfare is widely recognised by Defence, defence industry, and governments globally.
Originally from Ukraine, and now based in Australia, my career has taken me across academia, government, defence, and industry. Throughout this journey one question has consistently driven my work: "How can we design technologies and systems that make people safer, more effective, and more resilient?
I currently serve as a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (Canberra) at the Australian Defence Force Academy. I also wok as a Defence Strategic Advisor to an Australian-based company, supporting international collaboration across Australia, Europe, Ukraine. I've led multiple complex projects and help bridging research and operational practice, informing and advising on policy and industry engagement. My work informed defence organisations, governments and industry across Australia, Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific and Ukraine.
As a thought leader, I am often invited to provide an expert opinion and independent analyses on: uncrewed and autonomous systems, war in Ukraine, defence and national security, aviation safety for the BBC World Service, BBC News (London, UK), CNBC (USA), ABC, SBS, Channel 9, Channel 7, Forbes, New Scientist, Indo-Pacific Forum, etc. In addition, I am a regularly invited speaker at the national and international forums and initiatives, NATO bodies and International - including NATO's Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC), NATO Science & Technology workshops in Europe, the Drone Capability Coalition Summit, Australia-New Zealand-Ukraine Cooperation Forum, US Department of War Command, International Civil Aviation Organisation, and other engagements with defence organisations and government agencies across allied nations.
Whether I'm speaking at international forums, advising organisations, conducting research or teaching future professionals, my mission remains the same: To bridge people, technology, and innovation to create safer, smarter adn more resilient systems for the future.

There is no 'safe distance' anymore, as Ukraine's long-range sanctions - drones and all team involved in these complex operations - planning, preparation, reconnaissance, command, target assignment, launching, tracking! Read my brief overview in this article.

Recently I spoke to David Hambling and New Scientist exploring the rapid evolution of military robotics and the growing role of uncrewed and autonomous systems in modern warfare and the future of war.

In this interview, I spoke to Ben Graham and and news.com.au about drones and counter drone systems and their role in modren warfare. These threats are increasingly expanding in their developments and scale, and importantly how quick countries can adapt and respond to this new reality.

Recently l’ve had an interesting discussion with David Hambling about humanoid robots; and whether they will redefine how battles are fought and won.
